Over the years, Mr. Andhi had the privilege of applying his knowledge and skills in various professional roles. He used to serve as a District Manager at EFCO Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. He was always tasked with enhancing operational efficiency and profitability while ensuring exceptional service to clients in Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. His responsibilities encompass sales management, new business development, recruitment, and more, all with a focus on delivering quality engineering solutions and superior customer satisfaction.

Prior to this, as a Senior Sales Manager at DOKA Formwork Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Andhi honed his salesmanship, meeting customer needs, developing new business opportunities, and excelling in account management. As a Chief Operating Officer at PLASTECH Industries Sdn. Bhd., he defined and implemented business strategies, optimizing organizational capabilities and overseeing daily operations. With 25 years of experience, Mr. Andhi brings hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to the table. He thrives in complex situations, employing negotiation and strategic thinking to achieve win-win outcomes.

In addition to his roles, he has been deeply involved in various types of construction projects, including infrastructure, substructure, bridges, tunnels, buildings, housing developments, apartments, and super high-rise buildings. Some notable projects he has contributed to include the Bridge in Putrajaya, Tunnel in Putrajaya, Long River Span Bridge in Perak, Underground MRT Stations, Exchange 106 (106-Storey TRX, KL), KL118 (118-Storey, KL), and more. These experiences have given him a well-rounded perspective on the construction industry and have honed his expertise in managing complex and diverse projects.

His passion for the formwork industry drives his desire to take on senior roles in Engineering, Operations, or Sales within a growing organization. Mr. Andhi is recognized for his contributions, including being named TM of the Year in Malaysia in 2001/2002 and 2002/2003. In summary, his educational foundation, coupled with diverse work experiences and a drive for excellence, has prepared him to make significant contributions to any organization in the formwork industry.

He was involved in the setting up of the PKNS Praton Haus Bhd, (now known as PKNS Engineering & Construction Bhd) who owned an industrialized Building System factory for the construction of PKNS houses.

He has served PKNS Engineering Construction Bhd (PECB) for 29 years from 1981 to 2009 and as Chief Executive Officer for 15 years until his retirement from the company. With his vast knowledge and experience, upon retirement he was offered to become a “SPECIAL OFFICER” directly responsible to GENERAL MANAGER of PKNS. Later, in July 2010 he joined Proven Holdings Group as a Corporate Director and also as a Director in PT Titanium Property (a subsidiary of Proven Holdings Group in Jakarta).

Throughout his career (in Construction & Development ) since 1977 until to date, he is well claimed as one of the leading and knowledgeable person in IBS in the country and has been lecturing and presenting papers at Local & International IBS SEMINARS, especially organized by MALAYSIA IBS INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITITION (MIIE). He is also a committee member of IBS-CIDB, Pakar IBS/MC-CIDB and Induk MIIE 09/11 (Malaysian IBS International Exhibition). He has been a guest lecturer and speaker for CIBD, PKK, JKR, UITM, Unimap and CREAM.

After retiring in 1993, Ir. Tan Ah Chai embarked on a remarkable journey in the field of
consultancy. He founded his own consultancy firm, Perunding TAC, drawing from his
extensive experience in civil engineering and construction. Over the years, Ir. Tan has become an authority in various facets of building construction systems, earning recognition for his expertise.

His areas of specialization encompass a wide spectrum, including the design and construction of reinforced concrete and plain concrete load-bearing walls, the use of hollow concrete blocks and solid bricks for masonry work, precast and semi-precast construction methods, and cost-effective structural roofing systems. His knowledge extends to the application of proprietary precast wall panels as load-bearing elements.

Ir. Tan’s consultancy services have left an indelible mark on numerous projects, ranging from hospitals and office complexes to low-cost housing and prisons. He has also been entrusted with the responsibility of independently assessing and rectifying structural failures for government bodies, semi-government entities, and private sector clients.

Furthermore, Ir. Tan has shared his wealth of knowledge as a guest lecturer and speaker at prestigious institutions and served as a technical opinion panelist. His professional journey has even led him to act as an expert witness in court proceedings, where his expertise has been pivotal in resolving complex legal disputes in the realm of construction and engineering. Ir. Tan Ah Chai’s dedication to his craft and contributions to the field of civil engineering and construction have undeniably left an indelible mark on the industry, making him a respected figure in his field.
